WHAT HAVE I DONE WRONG THAT GOD HATES ME SO MUCH?

DESPAIR

Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

According to the word of God, the thoughts of God towards us are of peace, not of evil to give us an expected end; but still I ask myself what have I done wrong that God hates me so much that He cannot have mercy on me?

These are the questions that I asked God when I was going through tough times. “Does God really love me?” “Does God care for me, and if He cares why did He allow me to go through these tough times?” “What are the thoughts of God toward me as a person?” “Does He think well of me?” These are the questions that I asked God in times past.

There are a lot of people going through difficulties in life today and they ask themselves these questions: “What is the purpose of my life?” “Why does God bless others and He does not bless me?” There are lots of questions that people ask and no one can answer them in a way that it will satisfies them and for this reason, many end up committing suicide because they think that their lives are meaningless and that no one can help them out. They believe that there is no hope for their future. “What have I done wrong that God hates me so much” is a book that is coming out soon, this book is an epistle of my life. I have gone through pains and difficulties of life; I have gone through death and prison of life. How did God help me out of these troubles of life? You will find out in that book. In this article, we look at some solutions.

Beloved you might have been going through some difficulties in your life and thinking that there is no hope for you anymore, but I assure you that there is hope for your future. Let us look at the life of Job.

Job 17:1 & 11-16

“My spirit is broken, My days are extinguished, The grave is ready for me. My days are past, My purposes are broken off, Even the thoughts of my heart. They change the night into day; ' The light is near,' they say, in the face of darkness. If I wait for the grave as my house, If I make my bed in the darkness, If I say to corruption, 'You are my father,' And to the worm, 'You are my mother and my sister,' Where then is my hope? As for my hope, who can see it? Will they go down to the gates of Sheol? Shall we have rest together in the dust?" (NKJV)

Job’s life had no meaning to him at this stage; he had lost all hope and was crying for death, but when Job found God, his life changed forever.

Jeremiah is another typical example; everyday he cried, wept with gnashing of teeth over the sad plight of Israel and that was why he wrote the book of Lamentations.

 Lamentations 3:4-17:

He has made my skin and flesh grow old. He has broken my bones. He has attacked me and surrounded me with anguish and distress. He has buried me in a dark place, like a person long dead. He has walled me in, and I cannot escape. He has bound me in heavy chains. And though I cry and shout, he shuts out my prayers. He has blocked my path with a high stone wall. He has twisted the road before me with many detours. He hid like a bear or a lion, waiting to attack me. He dragged me off the path and tore me with his claws, leaving me helpless and desolate. He bent his bow and aimed it squarely at me. He shot his arrows deep into my heart. My own people laugh at me. All day long they sing their mocking songs. He has filled me with bitterness. He has given me a cup of deep sorrow to drink. He has made me grind my teeth on gravel. He has rolled me in the dust. Peace has been stripped away, and I have forgotten what prosperity is.  (KJV)

THE ONLY WAY OUT

The only way out of your distress is to acknowledge God in your situation. He knows all about you because He created you in His own image and He wants the best for you in life. Do not blame God for what you are going through, but cry unto Him for help because you cannot help yourself and no one else can help you besides God. He will provides a permanent solution.

Lamentations 2:18 &19.

“Their heart cried out to the Lord, " O wall of the daughter of Zion, Let tears run down like a river day and night; Give yourself no relief; Give your eyes no rest." Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the watches; Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord. Lift your hands toward Him For the life of your young children, who faint from hunger at the head of every street." (NKJV)

“But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto His eternal glory by Christ Jesus after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”( 1 Peter 5:10). Beloved everything that you are going through today is towards your perfection. Let us look at raw gold, when a miner digs out gold from the ground it is shapeless and very ugly in colour and sight, but when you give raw gold to the gold smith to shape it, the gold will go through a lot of process before it starts to shine. They will put the raw gold into the fire several times, before it starts to shine and looks like the gold we are used to seeing. If gold can talk and tell you what it has gone through before it started to shine, it would say that it was not easy at all. You must go through process for you to shine. Therefore have hope in God for there is hope for your future.

Lamentations 3:22-26:

Through the LORD's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. “The LORD is my portion," says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!" The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.

God does not hate you but He loves you and cares for you. Whatever you are going through today, seek God’s face for a way out. If you have not given your life to the Lord Jesus Christ, please give your life to Him today and He will give you rest and everlasting joy. My prayer is that as you are reading this article, God will make all things perfect in your life, He will establish you, strengthen you and settle you, for your suffering is not in vain.

Therefore, don’t give up on yourself, “for I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us” (Rom8:18). “So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses. He had also seven sons and three daughters. And he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Kezia; and the name of the third, Keren-happuch. And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren” (Job 42:12-15).  Your life is full of His glory, the lord who blessed the latter end of Job will bless your life and He will take you to your destination in life in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

• Do you know that over 17.5 million children are abandoned in Nigeria, some of these children are molested? • Therefore, for the past 5 years the founders of River and Tree of Life Foundation – RATOLF have been supporting and sponsoring the Save Abandoned and Molested Children in Nigeria initiative, organised by RATOLF. • RATOLF launched this initiative to provide relief and rescue some of the abandoned fraction of Nigerian society. • RATOLF has so far helped churches and communities by providing needful equipment such as keyboards, public address system and paid tuition fees for abandoned children. • RATOLF’s project will initially train 10 local leaders to facilitate agency-based empowerment workshop and support 300 vulnerable girls and boys with tuition fees, school supplies, food, and counselling. • However, the need for support has grown beyond the capacity of the founders, if at all, we are to achieve the objective of the initiative. • Therefore, we are asking for ...

How to Overcome Depression

Many people who are suffering from depression today and looking for a way out think the only way to overcome depression is by drinking and smoking. Many think that smoking and drinking will suppress depression. When they look for a way out through smoking and drinking and find no solution, they think that the necessary thing to do is to kill themselves by hanging or any means by which death can come. Thousands of people have killed themselves while they were looking for a way where there is no way. The only way out of depression is in CHRIST JESUS. Depression hits almost every family. Depression can be a normal reaction to the adverse circumstances of life. It can also be a feeling that follows the loss of a loved one, the loss of health due to an accident or illness, or the loss of something that we consider valuable such as a job, a business going bankrupt, or status to name a few.  People suffering from mild depression usually recover in a short period of time. For others, recov...
Before you set your goals for this year and even the years to come, determine your values. Just as your gifts dictate your potential, your character determines your legacy. Your accomplishments may make your name known but your character will determine what people associate with that name. Success does not make anything easier, it just raises the stakes. The day will come, as you advance in life when “progress” will call for compromising your convictions. What hangs in the balance at that moment is your moral authority. There are two major enemies of purpose, namely distraction and misdirection. In addition to distraction and misdirection, you also need to watch out for fatal attractions. That was the enemy that killed Amnon, the 1 st son of David. His name means “faithful and true” but his fatal attraction to Tamar whose name means “Palm Tree” led to his demise. In your moments of prayer and intercession, pray and intercede against these subtle enemies  [Proverbs 2:1‐7 (see verse ...
