How to Overcome Depression

Many people who are suffering from depression today and looking for a way out think the only way to overcome depression is by drinking and smoking. Many think that smoking and drinking will suppress depression. When they look for a way out through smoking and drinking and find no solution, they think that the necessary thing to do is to kill themselves by hanging or any means by which death can come. Thousands of people have killed themselves while they were looking for a way where there is no way. The only way out of depression is in CHRIST JESUS. Depression hits almost every family. Depression can be a normal reaction to the adverse circumstances of life. It can also be a feeling that follows the loss of a loved one, the loss of health due to an accident or illness, or the loss of something that we consider valuable such as a job, a business going bankrupt, or status to name a few.  People suffering from mild depression usually recover in a short period of time. WHAT HAVE I DONE WRONG THAT GOD HATES ME SO MUCH?

DESPAIR Jeremiah 29:11  “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. According to the word of God, the thoughts of God towards us are of peace, not of evil to give us an expected end; but still I ask myself what have I done wrong that God hates me so much that He cannot have mercy on me? These are the questions that I asked God when I was going through tough times. “Does God really love me?” “Does God care for me, and if He cares why did He allow me to go through these tough times?” “What are the thoughts of God toward me as a person?” “Does He think well of me?” These are the questions that I asked God in times past. There are a lot of people going through difficulties in life today and they ask themselves these questions: “What is the purpose of my life?” “Why does God bless others and He does not bless me?” There are lots of questions that people ask and no one can answer them in a way...

2 Chronicles 20:1-30 We often face overwhelming circumstances. What do you do when you don’t know what to do?  How did Jehoshaphat get from overwhelming circumstances to victory and peace? (b) His prayer was prompt. (c) His prayer was passionate (verses 3, 4, 9). (d) His prayer was proper. (e) God’s response (verses 14-19) (f) God’s response brought encouragement. (g) God’s response brought instruction. 2. Faith (verses 20) a. Faith based on God’s person. b. Faith based on God’s promises. 3. Obedience (verses 15-17) a. Obedience to God’s specific instructions. b. Obedience to God’s general instructions (2 Chronicles 17:1-6). 4. Worship (verses 21-28). a. Praise God before He brings victory (Verses 18, 19). b. Praise God while He is bringing victo...

HOLD ON TILL THE END

BIBLE PASSAGES: LUKE 9:57-62; Romans 8:18-28; Isaiah 41:9-20 Introduction  Today message is talking about “Hold on Till the End”  What does that mean? It means do not give up on yourself. Do not quit and do not run away from the challenges of life. No one can get promotion without a test. I want you to understand that Winners don’t quit, and Quitters don’t win. I am applying the same words today saying to you, don’t quit and do not give up on yourself.  Do not throw away your commitment and your conviction.  Do not give up on your dreams.  Do not give up on your passion, whatever you are passionate about, hold on it and stay focused until you get it right.  There is a reason why you were created and there is a reason why you are living. There is a glory in you that God will reveal to you, don’t look down on yourself. What you’re going through now are temporary, your problem of today will turn into a miracle. The problem you are having is for the mean time. Don’t...
